Last weekend I continued to explore trails in Boulder and I chose Mount Sanitas Trail (see details here). It is a 3.2-mile loop trail which takes an average of 2 h 15 min to complete.
This is a very popular area for hiking, and I encountered many friendly people while exploring.
From the trailhead, I began to head towards the summit. There were wooden stairs at the beginning, so it was an easy beginning.
Then the trial got more challenging, with a steady incline along a rocky, sometimes washed out trail.
Eventually after more than one hour I reached the summit of Mount Sanitas, with an altitude of over 2,000 meters. The peak offered really views, made me feel my sweat worth it. I could enjoy the view of Boulder and the mountains to the west.

Instead of returning to the bottom, I chose to do the loop, and therefore continued east on the East Ridge Trail. The trail downhill was even more challenging, because the short trail decreased in elevation rapidly.
Generally speaking, the trial is quite challenging. The trail is not man-made; instead, it is virtually natural. There are many huge rocks on the way, and you need to decide which rocks you will step on and sometimes the trial is washed out to a smooth slope, making you more likely to fall down.
The trial is definitely a must-go in Boulder. The snowcapped mountains I overlooked from the summit excited me, but I would still prefer the views on the Wonderland Lake Trail I explored before.
